  • From Supt. Gary Neal:

The health of our students and staff is a top priority in the Sequim School District.  When  the lead in water issue surfaced last spring, we contacted the Clallam County Health Department and asked for direction for water testing.  Clallam County PUD and the City of Sequim were brought on board as well.  Since then, Helen Haller and Greywolf Elementary schools have been tested and retrofitted, under direction from the Health Department.  We have been directed to retest after the school year begins in fall 2016.

We are committeed to our plan to ensure that water quality is safe throughout the District.  Please continue to check our website for updates. For more information, click on Drinking Water Safety.

  • This year, the district is introducing an all-online system for volunteer clearance. Beginning August 18, individuals interested in volunteering in Sequim Schools may begin an online volunteer application process for the 2016-17 school year at https://sequimvolunteers.hrmplus.net/.  The online application process requires an e-mail address and provides step-by-step assistance.  A current Washington State driver's license or state ID card is required in order to run a background check.

  • Sequim School District Policy Regarding Non-Resident and Out-of-Attendance Area requests for the 2016-2017 School Year

Given the over-crowded facility issues we are facing, the Sequim School District will not be accepting any new out-of-district, or out of attendance area requests for 16-17 school year, with the exception of those categories protected by law. To clarify:

    1. Out-of-district Choice students and out of attendance area IntraDistrict transfer students, currently enrolled in the system, will be allowed to stay until graduation, as per federal guidance. However, a new Choice form or IntraDistrict Transfer form must be completed each school year, or upon moving out of the district or out of the attendance area.
    2. As per RCW 28A.225.225 , children of a full-time certificated or classified Sequim School District employee will be allowed to attend, even if the family lives out of district.
    3. We intend to honor current residency boundaries for elementary attendance. No new IntraDistrict transfers will be accepted. This helps us plan more effectively.
    4. Even if there are siblings in our system from non-resident families, we will not accept new Kindergarten students from non-resident families or out of attendance area families.
    5. ALL inquiries about non-resident applications should be directed to Marilyn Walsh at (360) 582-3262 or mwalsh@sequim.k12.wa.us.
